Recruiting a CEO, chair or trustees can be a difficult process, but it has never been more important than now, when good leadership is vital to help communities and organisations recover. ACEVO has teamed up with Green Park to launch a guide providing practical guidance on designing and running a recruitment process for charity leaders. The guide is free for ACEVO members and covers some common quandaries of recruitment; planning for unexpected resignations; creating strong succession plans; and shortlisting, longlisting, assessment and onboarding processes.

If you follow ACEVO on Twitter, you might have noticed the hashtag #AcevoClimate, which we use to signpost any content related to the climate crisis – ACEVO’s or external. Now we also have a monthly blog, by ACEVO’s policy officer Maisie Hulbert, with the latest tools, resources and initiatives to support civil society leaders take an ambitious role in tackling climate breakdown. Catch up here.

The Leadership Worth Sharing podcast is back, and in this episode, Vicky Browning speaks to Catherine Johnstone, CEO of the Royal Voluntary Service. They talk about being a leader during an unexpected crisis, how the pandemic has transformed the volunteering landscape, the national versus local debate, and why collaborations are not for the faint-hearted. This and all previous episodes (and transcripts) are available on the website

There is now a dedicated page to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) resources on the website’s guides, tools and templates section. From digital accessibility guidance to audit and measurements tools, the aim is to support ACEVO members to build workplaces where everyone feels welcome and improve the way organisations deliver their services.
