#ACEVOFest21 speakers: Amy Shepherd

ACEVO’s digital leadership festival is back this year from 2-4 November. The full programme is available on the website and in this blog series, you will get to know our speakers a little bit better.

Amy Shepherd, career coach and learning & development consultant

At #ACEVOFest21, Amy highlight some of the key challenges now facing CEOs, and look at what this means for how we help others navigate change and how we may need to flex our style and ways of working as leaders.

What makes you hopeful?

The vaccine.

What do you know now that you didn’t know at the beginning of 2020?

That the world would make online working truly work. Zoom, Teams and webinars are the norm now, opening up flexibility for those who need it and saving on commuting time and office space for those who were used to a 9-5 desk-based role. There’s still a long way to go to make the world of work truly flexible (not just remote) – but 2020 has shown what is possible when you need to make something work.

Can you recommend: a book, a series/film, a podcast?

I’d recommend the book Playing Big by Tara Mohr. I am always referring to it in my work, both individually and with teams, and cannot recommend it more highly.

Did you incorporate a new habit in your day to day routine in the past 18 months that you can share with us?

More short screen breaks and taking the time to pause during the day.

What do you miss the most from working at the office and what you love the most from working remotely?

I miss the camaraderie of being face-to-face with people in the office – especially when facilitating workshops and training – but I love managing my own time while working remotely.

What’s your favourite thing to do for your own wellbeing?

Zumba!
