ACEVO strengthens member services with key hire

Former University of Leicester Students’ Union CEO joins as member services manager.

In line with its ambitious vision, ACEVO, the leading professional body for charity and social enterprise leaders in England and Wales, has created the new role of member services manager to oversee and elevate its membership offering.

Gareth Oughton will be at the forefront of this pivotal transformation, ensuring ACEVO’s existing member services, including programmes, events and activities, and one-to-one support and advice, are as effective and impactful as possible, and developing future member services, actively exploring new opportunities, and responding to members’ needs.

This move reinforces ACEVO’s dedication to providing unwavering support to its members throughout their careers, especially during challenging times. The organisation aims to deliver personalised, confidential, and empathetic support to its members along with opportunities for leadership development and training, reflection, and emotional well-being.

Gareth brings a wealth of experience to ACEVO, having spent 15 years in membership organisations developing exceptional member services. Prior to leading the University of Leicester Students’ Union, he was deputy CEO at the University of Exeter Students’ Guild, responsible for the development of a sector leading membership services directorate that incorporated volunteering development, support services and student representation.

Jane Ide, CEO at ACEVO said:

“Although we believe our member services are best in class, we are not complacent. We are ambitious to increase the impact we have by developing existing services and delivering new ones that respond to the needs of our members operating in an ever-changing world. I am delighted to welcome Gareth to the team and look forward to introducing him to our members.”

Gareth Oughton, member services manager at ACEVO, said:

I am delighted to be joining the organisation at such an exciting time in its development. I look forward to working with our members and with colleagues to identify opportunities to enhance existing services as well as creating brand new opportunities to ensure our 1,700 members get even more value and impact from their ACEVO membership in the future.
