In case you missed it is a monthly round-up of what we have been up to at ACEVO. Communications Officer Heloisa Righetto shares links to recently published content, newly launched events and services available to members.
Latest resources
Episode #13 of the ACEVO podcast went live. In this episode, Vicky Browning speaks to Sarah Hughes, chief executive of the Centre For Mental Health. Sarah talks about why we need to tackle the power dynamic in charities, how Scarlett O’Hara and Amazon boxes can help us contain our anxiety as leaders and the positives we can keep from this pandemic that will help us build a better workplace.
We have a new section on the website: Guides, tools, templates (under resources). Here, ACEVO members can access tailored tools (such as a self assessment framework for recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic) to help them streamline the workload and make time-consuming tasks easier to manage.
ACEVO members can also read our latest member briefing, which outlines the DCMS Select Committee report on COVID-19 and charities. This short briefing outlines the key points from the report and the Committee’s recommendations.
Announced new events
Apart from webinars, we are also organising several member meetings. The latest ones added to our events calendar are:
- Keeping the climate crisis front of mind: How can we move forward beyond COVID-19 with the climate crisis front of mind, and introduce more changes to keep momentum or retain those we have already made which benefit the environment? Tuesday, 2 June.
- The role of faith-based charities in driving social change: Join your peers from faith-based charities to discuss what we have learned about the role of faith in times of crisis. Thursday, 4 June.
You can also follow our Instagram to check the upcoming events.
Supporting the sector
We published the results of the first Charity Health Check survey. In collaboration with the Centre of Mental Health, we asked 174 charities across England and Wales about changes seen in April across five key markers of financial health.
The result is a worrying set of results for the charity sector with the majority seeing reserves, cash-flow, donations and new business income falling in the last month. Meanwhile, employment and front-line services have held firm and will be key indicators of the impact of COVID-19 in next month’s (June) figures.
Support for you
ACEVO’s corporate partners continue to offer specialist advice and support relevant to the current crisis. We are constantly updating this dedicated page with links to resources and events, so please bookmark it.
See you in June!
