After five years as chief executive, Vicky Browning will be leaving ACEVO at the end of May. When Vicky started at ACEVO, she set out to transform the organisation – to grow the membership, restore its reputation and bring financial stability. She has achieved everything she wanted to do: the turnaround is complete and ACEVO is in a stable and healthy state, with a strong, reputable brand. ACEVO’s board and team are excited to be embarking on a search to find her replacement, someone who can deliver the new strategy and support civil society leaders to make the biggest possible difference. Announced new events
After two years of virtual gatherings, we are really looking forward to welcoming members to our first face to face event since pandemic restrictions began. Join us on 26 April from 4-6pm in London to meet and network with your peers. It will be a chance to catch up in person with some of the ACEVO team and other CEOs, to share concerns, learnings or ask for advice. We’re also planning more in-person events at venues across the country – details coming soon.
Two years of pandemic restrictions have tested the resilience of arts, heritage and culture leaders as never before. Join Mark Pemberton, chief executive of the Association of British Orchestras and Lizzie Glithero-West, chief executive of The Heritage Alliance on 19 April from 2-3pm for a roundtable discussion on survival skills, building recovery, and warding off the great resignation.

ACEVO’s climate emergency committee is gathering case studies highlighting positive climate leadership shown in charities, both environmental and non-environmental. The first one, from Quo Vadis Trust, is now live. We hope this series will provide a range of ideas about how organisations can approach different types of climate action and play their part in a just transition to net-zero. If you’d like to share what you have been doing at your organisation – no effort is too small – please submit your story.
A few weeks ago, peers rightly rejected some of the most extreme proposals in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. Unfortunately, many of the measures criminalising protest remain.
