Our new Prime Minister faces many challenges as she steps into her new role.
The climate catastrophe and the need to adapt and act in the face of it; increasing inequalities in health and economic wellbeing across the country and the need for the levelling up agenda to be driven forward with commitment and pace; and, right now, an economic crisis of a magnitude we have not seen for generations, all make for an unenviable inbox for Liz Truss in her first days in the post.
We hope to see her provide leadership to the country in tackling each of these issues in ways that are equitable, sustainable and impactful, and civil society leaders stand ready to contribute to achieving those solutions.
Right now, we ask her to urgently deliver meaningful financial support to those in greatest need, to provide targeted financial support for those charities and voluntary organisations that are on the frontline of supporting people through this crisis, and to ensure that charities, voluntary and community organisations are included in any plans to provide support to businesses.
