“Earlier this week I was invited to join a meeting chaired by Sue Gray, chief of staff to the Prime Minister. Alongside me were leaders from national and local civil society organisations, including some who brought direct experience of the impact of the riots on their communities and their organisations.
While much of the content of the discussion was painful and traumatic, the commitment shown by Sue Gray on behalf of the Prime Minister to listening to, learning from and working with civil society both in the immediate response and in the long term work of healing and rebuilding communities was one of the many shafts of light in a dark and difficult week.
In the link below is a letter I received last night from Lisa Nandy, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, reiterating that commitment, which I want to share with all of you who have been working so hard to lead your organisations and your teams through these difficult times.”
