Singh sees the SIGs as an integral part of the development ACEVO’s policy platform and a key element in engaging with members. Historically, SIGS have been cited by the membership as one of the most valuable components of ACEVO’s offer providing both mutual support and cross-fertilisation of ideas and innovation.
The programme of SIGs commences with the Health and Social Care Group in Manchester next week (Thurs June 2). The group will discuss the devolution of healthcare. Following the devolution of the £6 billion health and social care budget to Greater Manchester, and with further devolution deals in the pipeline, the group will examine impact of the local democratisation of care and the effect of this on the third sector.
Later in the month the Arts, Sports and Culture SIG will meet in London to explore the role played by the third sector in nation’s £125 billion tourism industry and the opportunities provided by the industry. From those charities that run some of the most popular destinations in England, to those arts and sports groups that contribute to the vibrant array of activities available to those visiting the country, the sector has much to say about how we continue to build the tourism offer.
Further SIGs are also scheduled for later in the summer and autumn including Children and Young People, Women in Leadership and Housing and Homelessness.

SIGs are an ideal platform for our members to make their views known, to showcase their work and inform the sector’s activity across the range of disciplines and needs. I am determined to provide as many members as possible with their own platforms and forums from which we may collectively take future policy and support delivery”.
