Climate week

ACEVO’s first-ever Climate week happened on 9-13 September 2024

In line with our climate and environmental work, we hosted our first ever Climate week. Our aim is to engage our members and all civil society leaders – whether they are or not directly involved with climate and environmental action – and promote the importance of this work in order to ensure the sustainability of our sector and society at large.

Throughout the week, together with civil society leaders, we published content and hosted events across different platforms. There was also an opportunity for leaders to share their challenges and reflections about what it is they find difficult when it comes to embed climate action in their organisation’s work.

We hope the week has triggered inspiring thoughts and ideas but also some acknowledgement that everyone is on a climate journey, whether you’re right at the start, middle or end. For those that haven’t started their journey yet, we hope this gives you the confidence to begin.

The week included online events, social media content, and a special edition of our podcast.

Our CEO Jane Ide will kick off the week writing an article about the importance of getting involved with the climate and environmental work. The article will be shared on LinkedIn.

Join us for a digital meeting hosted by Andrew Brown, executive director of the Veolia Environmental Trust. Andrew will talk to Mamta Borgoyary, executive director of SHE Changes Climate and Caroline Macfarland, founder and director of Common Vision, about ‘can civil society afford to care about climate change?’

ACEVO chief executive Jane Ide will host a live conversation on LinkedIn with Areeba Hamid, executive director at Greenpeace UK.

We are publishing a special episode of our podcast, Leadership worth sharing. Jools Townsend, CEO of the Community Rail Network, talks to Jabeer Butt, CEO of Race Equality Foundation and Kamran Mallick, CEO of Disability Rights UK about the intersection of climate and social justice.

ACEVO’s policy and influencing officer Shareen Patel will share a blog to wrap up the week, which will include people’s reflections, questions and challenges about joining the climate and environmental action.
